The Maschio Flail mower range is one of the largest available on the UK market with models and features to suit nearly all possible applications. In the design of their flail Mower range Maschio have put to good use the 45 years of expertise gained from building gearboxes and drive lines for rotary cultivators. Their build techniques and buying volumes ensure very robust, reliable and competitively priced machines and wearing parts.
Maschio Flail Mowers incorporate the key element to any Flail Mower which is the ability to create a fine residue whether they are cutting long grass or twigs and branches. This increases the speed that residues are broken down at and ultimately the nutrient value of the residue is absorbed back into the soil more quickly.
All the models produce excellent results ensuring all the worked material is thoroughly cut and mulched at a fast rate enabling a large amount of ground to be covered in a working day. Furthermore there are a host of small features incorporated into every model to make use and maintenance, easy and safe.
Whilst a mechanical and/or Hydraulic offset is available on most standard mounted machines the range also includes Fully offset models for field/verge side and ditch mowing - Click here for Offset Flail Mowers or here for standard mounted Flail Mowers.
There is is a model to suit all requirements, please click the "MODELS" link above (top left) or the "NEXT TAB" link below for further information on a perticular model.

Flail Mower Range
The flail mower range starts with the small light weight 20hp Barbi flail mower and runs up to the large heavy duty 240hp hydraulic folding Gemella, there are also two fully offset machines the Giraffa and Giraffona.
Mechanical and hydraulic offset is available on most models, the Giraffa and Giraffona are two fully offset side flail mowers which incorporate obstruction safety devices that allow them to move around immovable objects without causing damage to the machine.
All models include a rear roller to control the lenth of cut. Some models have either internal or external roller, and several versions have the option of both positions allowing the operator to choose where the material is discharged.

Toothed Belts
The entire flail mower range utilises toothed transmission drive belts to transfer power to the rotor. The toothed drive belts allow slip proof engagement preventing power from the transmission being reduced due to heavy loads or general wear.

Counter Blades
Throughout all the models in the flail mower range a minimum of one counter blade comes as standard, the internal toothed counter blades ensure that the discharged material is mulched into fine pieces which in turn speeds up breakdown of the residues.
The upper counter blades enable the machines to produce a finer mulch of harder coarse materials.

Safety Features
To ensure the safety of the operator and anyone standing near to the machines during work, there are several saftey features as seen below.
Steel front safety flaps allow material to enter the cutting chamber but prevent pieces from being thrown out at high speed. The rear bonnet covers the cutting area and can be lifted for easy maintenance rather than relying on the operator crawling under the machine.

All flail mowers come as standard with hammer flails but can be fitted with fish tail flails as an option.
The self sharpening hammer flail leaves a clean and level cut and lifts and mulches while cutting, whereas the fish tail flails are used for cutting dense tougher material.
The hammers and blades bolt onto an electronically balanced rotor that minimises machine vibration and stresses on the bearings.
