Intergrated cultivating and seeding - in one pass

The HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill has been launched following extensive and highly successful trials over three years on more than a dozen different sites in the UK and on further farms in Northern Europe.
More than just a cost-saving solution.
The Till-Seeding concept of simultaneous cultivating and seeding, already achieving major cost-saving benefits in Oil seed rape, is now available for cereal crops.
By minimising the amount of cultivation passes, the Till-Seeding system significantly reduces machinery wear, fuel usage and labour input. Till-Seeding also saves valuable time - a precious commodity at a busy time of the year.
But the benefits of Till-Seeding extend way beyond lower cost of production. In Oil seed rape applications, moisture conservation, reduced traffic and improved soil structure, leading to better plant growth and stronger plants, are playing a major part in delivering better yields.
TILL-SEEDING CAN INCREASE YOUR MARGINS IN CEREALS
Whilst Cereal prices have improved, fertiliser, diesel and labour costs continue to creep up keeping pressure on crop margins. Reviewing your establishment methods and cost of production can make a major difference to your returns.
So, what are your options? Plough based tillage and Min-till both offer reliability and consistency. However, they take more time, cultivation costs are higher and diesel
usage is greater. Direct drilling offers the lowest establishment costs and the fastest turn-round time, but it’s not suited to all crop rotations or the vagaries of the British weather.
There has to be some middle ground - and Till-Seeding provides it! Faster and lower in cost than Plough based and Min-till systems, Till-Seeding is suitable for all soil types and weather conditions.
CREATES THE CONDITIONS FOR PLANTS TO THRIVE
Even germination, good establishment, good rooting, consistent growth and the correct plant numbers are top priorities in creating the ideal conditions under which a crop can achieve its yield and quality potential.
To maximise the return from your crop you must therefore provide for a good root structure, drill on the required date and at the correct seed rate, place seed consistently at the required depth, ensure good seed coverage and soil-to-seed contact, consolidate and deal with crop residues.
THE WAY FORWARD FOR ALL COMBINABLE CROPS
Till-Seeding enables you to achieve all this, and more. Already a proven success in oil seed rape, the Till-Seeding concept is now a reality for all combinable crops with the launch of the new, innovative HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill .

DESIGNED FOR USE ON CULTIVATED OR UNCULTIVATED LAND
The versatility of the HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill allows it to drill straight into stubble, or on land partially or significantly cultivated. Where conditions require, it can also be used as a cultivator to create stale seedbeds for Till-Seeding on the second pass.
A MORE EFFECTIVE GRAIN DRILLING SYSTEM
The key to good seed drilling is to place the seed at a consistent depth, cover the seed and consolidate to obtain good soil to seed contact. The HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill does each of these as well as, or more accurately than, most other systems available. So, although it is doing less work to the soil, the HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill achieves the essential requirements for good germination and growth.
This “whole establishment” system using the sabre seeder grain drill / seed drill not only reduces costs, it achieves an establishment rate at least as good as comparable modern grain drills / seed drills.

SINGLE PASS OPERATION SAVES TIME AND MONEY
Unlike other cultivating and seeding combinations, the HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill is not simply a grain drill with cultivation tools added on; it is a cultivator with a truly integrated seeding function.
The HE-VA Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill allows cultivating and seeding to take place at the same time. This single pass operation results in significant savings in time, fuel and machinery wear. It also allows farmers to create a smaller carbon footprint when producing crops.

| HOW THE SABRE SEEDER WORKS |
The Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill has been developed as an entirely new machine, using the proven HE-VA disc roller as the host unit.
The coulter tube has been engineered around the disc roller arm and the press roller has been modified to suit drilling rather than cultivation and consolidation.
The Sabre disc coulter is a major feature of the seeder. It allows the seed to be dropped at the bottom of the opening created by the Sabre disc at a consistent depth and ensures it is covered, no matter what the conditions.
The shallow disc angle, with its superb cutting action, coupled with the stagger of the two disc rows provides the maximum movement and mixing of soil, even at shallow working depths.
The Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill also incorporates Rauch air drill metering technology, proven over several decades in this country. |
The Sabre Seeder Grain Drill Range
The range includes 3m and 4m rigid trailed units and 4m, 4.8m and 6m hydraulic folding trailed machines.

Sabre Seeder Options
SHATTABOARD
The Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill is an extremely flexible grain drill, whilst it was designed to work in Till-Seeding or Min-till systems, it can also be used after the plough if required. In this situation the optional shattaboard is a useful addition as it allows cultivation and levelling at the same time as seeding.
ERADICATOR TINES
In order to produce a seedbed that is as even as possible the effect of the tractor wheelings has to be minimised. This will also help to achieve simultaneous germination and even growth.
To achieve this all HE-VA grain drills / seed drills come with the option of eradicator tines. These are designed to lift the compaction out without smearing.
HALF SIDE SHUT-OFF
Available for all grain drills / seed drills as a simple override to allow the Sabre Seeder grain drill / seed drill to fit in with any width tramline system without double seeding.
